Gemini invests $24M for expansion in India

Launched in May, the Gemini Gurgaon Hub has since added over 70 staff. Cryptocurrency exchange Gemini is allocating 2 billion rupees ($24 million) for its expansion in India. According to the Sept. 26 announcement, the funds will be used to grow Gemini's development center in Gurgaon. The exchange said:  "Our teams based in Gurgaon will also be responsible for core platform fundamentals in the areas of compliance, data pipelines and warehousing, security, and payments, complementing our 500+ strong global workforce." Since its initial launch in May, the Gemini Gurgaon Development Center has expanded to over 70 staff, with active hiring for software engineers, technical product managers, talent acquisition, finance, support, and compliance. India Puts the Rupee First and Not BRICS Currency, Favors U.S. Dollar

BRICS members are currently divided a month before the summit in South Africa in August. The cracks within the BRICS group are growing larger as the bloc of five nations differs in ideology. While China and Russia are advancing towards the formation of a new currency, India seems to have taken a step back. India is sending mixed signals of backing out from the creation of the new BRICS currency and favoring the Rupee. The Indian Rupee is holding strong against the U.S. dollar in the foreign exchange markets indicating that the currency is relatively stable. This puts the country in a unique position financially and safeguards its national interests than taking on the U.S. dollar. India now aims to put its local currency first in the global markets than the soon-to-be-released BRICS tender. BRICS: India Responds to France Showing Interest To Attend the Summit

The Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi is on a two-day visit to France to discuss a wide range of issues with President Emmanuel Macron. The two leaders will discuss defense & security, counter-terrorism, maritime cooperation, economic ties, and evolving international affairs. The meet comes on the heels of the next BRICS summit which will be held in August in South Africa. Macron wanted France to be invited to the BRICS summit but the interest was rejected by Russia calling it suspicious. Now that Modi is in France, India’s Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra was asked to provide an answer about allowing Macron to the BRICS summit.
