Proof of Stake Alliance updates recommendations for staking providers

The POSA updated its staking principles to say that providers should communicate clearly and should not control the amount of liquidity a user must provide. The Proof of Stake Alliance (POSA), a non-profit organization that represents firms in the crypto staking industry, published an updated version of its “ staking principles” on Nov. 9. Coinbase identified as largest Bitcoin holder globally

Coinbase holds $25 billion worth of Bitcoin, amounting to nearly 5% of the cryptocurrency’s total supply, according to Arkham Intel. Blockchain intelligence platform Arkham Intel, on Sept. 22, revealed that U.S.-based crypto exchange Coinbase currently possesses close to 1 million Bitcoins (BTC) in its wallets.  Arkham has now identified $25B of Coinbase Bitcoin reserves (~1M BTC) on chain. Twitter thread shows Coinbase’s servers may be compromised

A Coinbase user recently shared a Coinbase-related scam story indicating that the exchange’s servers might be compromised . Jacob Canfield, a YouTube host and bitcoin enthusiast, claimed he received a text message about a changed two-factor authentication (2FA) setting on their Coinbase account. Shortly after, he got three phone calls from an individual claiming to be a Coinbase customer support representative. Base, Optimism unveil shared governance and revenue-sharing framework

The two networks will share profits and governance using multi-signature wallets, and a ‘Security Council’ will be formed as the ecosystem grows. Developers behind the Base and Optimism networks have jointly announced a revenue -sharing and governance -sharing agreement. Coinbase, the parent company of Base, has also published a list of “principles of neutrality” it will follow to prevent Base from becoming centralized. This announcement was made through three separate blog posts on Aug. 24; one from the jointly-controlled Optimism Collective, one from Base, and one from Coinbase. SEC refuses to make any decision on Coinbase’s rulemaking petition

Last week, the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit ordered the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to respond to Coinbase’s request for clarifying the rulemaking .  According to documents shared by the exchange’s chief legal officer (CLO) Paul Grewal, the regulator has denied to “commit to any deadline despite the Court’s explicit order.” The SEC says in the letter that Coinbase’s petition might receive a recommendation within 120 days. Moreover, the SEC set the deadline to update the court on Oct. 11, 2023, according to Grewal’s tweet. A whopping 80% of American adults believe the financial system favors those with “powerful interests,” while 20% currently own cryptocurrency — a new survey has revealed. Commissioned by crypto exchange Coinbase, the February online survey of more than 2,000 American adults found that 80% of respondents said the “global financial system unfairly favors powerful interests,” while 67% have called for “major changes” or a “complete overhaul” of the financial system. Holder of 6.8T Shiba Inu Transfers Billions of Tokens to Coinbase, Binance US

Bankrupt digital lender Voyager has been sending crypto tokens to centralized exchanges of late. Via a tweet on Thursday, blockchain security company PeckShield brought to light that ~9.6 million worth of assets has been transferred from Voyager to Coinbase, Binance US, and Kraken. The tokens transferred included Voyager Token [VGX], Chainlink [LINK], Ethereu m [ETH], and Shiba Inu [SHIB]. Ethereu m and Shiba Inu accounted for roughly two third of the share, i.e. $6 million in total. The remaining $3.6 million was accounted for by Voyager token and Chainlink [$2.1 million and $1.5 million respectively]. As shown below, the source involved two addresses — Voyager, and Voyager 1.
